« on: 19 January, 2010, 07:08:02 PM »
Good day for advance news but also in April (new Spirit ongoing aside details of what I assume was the Brendan McCarthy Doc Strange book that would now seem to be a Spider-man mini, sales, sales, sales hey Marvel. Anyway its gotta be good so details if it tickles ya fancy below

SPIDER-MAN: FEVER #1 (of 3)
Written by BRENDAN MCCARTHY
Pencils & Cover by BRENDAN MCCARTHY
One of comics' most innovative and original voices, Brendan McCarthy, brings SPIDER-MAN: FEVER -- a truly unique and surreal story evoking the classic Silver-Age psychedelia of Steve Ditko's Dr Strange. In FEVER, Spider-Man is abducted by a depraved tribe of spider-demons to a bizarre dimension, where he is to be eaten alive. Dr. Strange goes on a perilous occult quest to rescue his friend -- and tangles with some very peculiar characters along the way...

Yes I'm sure I've heard rumours of this for years and the art snippets I seem to recall seeing, are properly mental so I can't wait for this.

His fansite is currently down but that had more information. My understanding is the above was proposed by him but rejected.

With Shaky Kane's return later in the year, can comics cope with all this crazy goodness???

OOHHH!...this looks like the best thing from Marvel since Englehart's 70's Dr. Strange.

Spidey & Doc Strange team-ups were always the best collision of visuals and ideas in US comics.

It is fairly consistent, as it is being used for capital "i" as in "In the middle" and "I did wonder" but slightly confusingly in "Spider-Man" (until you work out it is supposed to be "SPIDER-MAN"). So I assume that, while it might not be Campbell Correct, it is conforming to a Marvel style guide.

edit: Or not, I grabbed two fairly recent trades and they are both Campbell Correct, so I assume someone dropped the ball in that one - it might not be too late to let them know, although they might have to withdraw and pulp the issues so...

Wow, theres a treasure trove of stuff on display here today.
I haven't picked up a Spiderman book (or any other Marvel book for that matter) since the travesty of the Clone saga back in the late 90s - but I'll be getting this! Looks amazing.
I didn't know Brendan wrote comics as well. Or is this his first?

Some detail on this issue, but posted here, because it's not really very interesting unless you're a letterer.

Cheers!

FP have his showreel, makes me wish they could just plug into his head and project that, as nothing seems to capture the true wonder of his concept art:

He wrote a good part of Solo #12. I was surprised he hadn't written more.
