Prose fiction was a staple of the 2000 AD and Judge Dredd annuals and specials over the years – in fact you can download right now from Amazon a Kindle edition of Sweet Justice, a collection of past Dredd and Anderson stories by the likes of Neil Gaiman, Peter Milligan, Alan Grant, Mark Millar and Dan Abnett, for a mere £2.22 – and now in the Meg we’re reviving the tradition with a Judge Dredd short story competition!
Entrants are invited to submit a piece of fiction no longer than 2000 words set in Dredd’s world – Old Stoney-Face should be the central protagonist, but you can use other established characters such as Anderson or Walter the Wobot for the supporting cast. The winning tale will not only be published in a future issue but the writer will also receive a replica Mark II Lawgiver courtesy of our friends at Planet Replicas! The two runners-up will also be published in future issues of the Meg.
Email your story as an attached rtf file, with your name, address and email address at the top of the document, to the Dreddlines@2000ADonline.com address. The closing date for entries is 23 May 2012, so get writing, creeps! Alas, this competition is only open to residents of the UK and Ireland.
No proof of purchase necessary. No cash alternative to prize will be offered. Winners will be notified by email. The editor’s decision is final!
