Sixteen months in the making, I've finally completed a massive, multi-volume gazetteer to all the locations of the 22nd century's toughest city MEGA-CITY ONE thus far visited in all the official Judge Dredd/Dreddworld media.

THE STREETS OF MEGA-CITY ONE (Volume One)
http://www.johncaliber.com

Hope you all enjoy it and feel free to contribute (also, check out the interview explaining what the project's all about).

- John

Very nice!
Great job!!

Is anybody here interested in helping this project out with a relatively small job?

I'd like to have certain elements copied from the main text for quicker reference purposes: weaponry, vehicles (and vehicle lore), media (book names, movie names, newspaper names, etc) and equipment. Basically, extracting material from the text and re-editing it to make sense in its new, standalone context. All items require story references tagged to them in case I need them for a visual reference when commencing my Mega-City One illustration project. I'll also welcome help with the latter, which will be a pretty big job.

TIA.

HERE IT COMES! Another brain-shredding 80-ish pages of Dredd lore masquerading as a humble street guide, covering Letters I-R. I've provided a direct link as it's getting too late tonight to update the web site (and my IV feed is overdue)...

What Version 1A compared to Version 1? Should I download it separately or delete the old one?

Then can we have one listing every Judge please? ;)

Thats first class that, brilliant work John. This is the kind of stuff DNA should use as reference material for the film. Most interesting read I have infront of me. :)

SoMC1 will be updated regularly (or at least when there is sufficient data to make an update worthwhile for everybody). I'm supposed to be receiving some RPG data in a few weeks, warranting Version 1A. All but two of the Black Flame novels require research and inclusion. The SoMC1 files are small, so it should not be a problem for readers to update as necessary to keep up to date.

In October I am writing (and publishing) DREDD IN SPACE, a guide to extraterrestrial and extradimensional locales, so there won't be any SoMC1 updates that month.

Most of the Judges to have appeared in official media are listed in SoMC1, spread throughout the stories, so interested parties can always extract and compile the data (and recheck against the source materials for omissions). Not something I'm interested in.

There are two appendices in production for SoMC1:

The PROGOLOGY is a year-by-year list of stories corresponding with the references at the tail end of each SoMC1 entry. This is not intended as a literal event-by-event chronology of stories, (which can be problematic), but an alphabetical list of stories grouped beneath the year they probably took place within. It's not a big project, but sufficiently time-consuming that I have entrusted its completion to one of my researchers.

The DIRECTORY is basically SoMC1 without the story data, divided into regions, eras (pre and post-Apoc), then subdivided into sectors. It's a faster way of discovering the sites of locations and their proximity to other landmark structures. Some locations featured in the DIRECTORY do not appear in the SoMC1 tomes because they have no associated story data (they were usually plomped in the background of a panel, I imagine at an artist's whim). These background locales are those most painlessly relocated or deleted if replications of the same building name appear, explored in greater detail by upcoming stories.

As mentioned on my PLAY DREDD message board, I noted a mistake in V2. The Smokatorium is listed among the letter 'M' locales because it was until recently prefixed with 'Mega-City'. As this seemed redundant in the book's context, I removed 'MC' but did not transplant the 'Smokatorium' entry into V3 (which has now been accomplished; the corrected V2 will be uploaded today).
