Carlos Ezquerra: lung cancer operation
« on: 23 July, 2010, 12:33:51 PM »
John Wagner has posted this on Facebook:

Thought you'd like to know that Carlos Ezquerra, my old mate and long-time collaborator, has just come through an operation for lung cancer. He will be drawing on one lung from now on. I know he has a page on Facebook though I don't know how to link you to it, should any of you wish to pass on your good wishes. For any who are still puffing away I know he (and I) would want to say think about giving it up. It isn't really that hard. After a couple of days the addiction wears off. I know, I've done it. Many times. (But this time it's for good!)

My best wishes to Carlos. Add yours below, or here http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1264723890&ref=sgm if you're on his friends list.

And to think when he made his appearance in the Yap Shop I was warning him of the perils of smoking!

My mother only has one working lung, has to take asthma medication and can only walk a few yards before she has to stop for breath.

the good news about mine is that my left lung works perfectly, I always been a kind of socialist, so the doctor says I'll notice nothing on a month or two. Pity I'll have to cancel my trip to the Himalaya...

You're an inspiration to us all, Carlos. I had a chat with my wife today, and she's agreed to clear the children out of the house on Sunday. I'm giving up smoking.

Take care of yourself, you mad genius.

Great to hear it, Carlos.  Long may you tower over the comics industry!

EDIT:  I've been smoking a lot of cigars recently. I'm giving up.  You're an inspiration to us all, in many ways

I loved Carlos comment on Facebook....

"ok, one less lung but.. who the hell need two for drawing?"

Great positive attitude from a great man. Good to know he will be OK.

My immediate reaction to seeing that Carlos posted a comment here was to just scroll right past it and pretend that i didnt see it !

That sounds like my Dad who is an ex smoker who just laughs at all those nicotine patches and that type of thing.I am only a very moderate smoker but i have had an earbashing about smoking roll ups [sometimes with an extra ingredient  :-X] so many times.5 days withdrawal is what i have been told.

Take care Carlos.
