New D.R. & Quinch book - in hand!
« on: 03 July, 2010, 11:13:08 PM »
EXCITING NEWS, CHUMS!  as they said

I picked up The Complete D.R. & Quinch US edition today - I found it at a comic shop in Decatur.  I said I wasn't going to do any upgrades if they changed the design or spine.  They did not.  This one's a nice sort of Cerulean blue (the previous edition was pink) and fits right in with the rest of the line.  The only design change at all appears to be the layout of the title and creators' names on the front cover.  Otherwise, spine, back and innards, it looks just like the rest of the line.

Changes from the previous Rebellion edition: The nine Agony Pages are in color, as are two of the pin-ups.  The supplement section has been greatly expanded.  The previous edition features:

Chrysoprasia pin-up (360)
Star pin-up (369)
Mixed doubles two-page pin-up (375-76)

The new edition:

Quinch tossing grenade in hand, D.R. sitting on bomb holding rifle (color)
"We missed you..." (I think from the 1987 prog which skipped the Agony Page, color)
D.R. & Quinch flipping fingers at camera (from Titan's Guide to Life)
Duo in profile (source unknown)
Star pin-up (369)
Mixed doubles two-page pin-up (375-76)
Pulger in torn dress pin-up (377)
Chrysoprasia pin-up (360)
Prog 450 wrap-around cover w/out lettering
Prog 350 cover
One page w/ two early-looking sketches by Davis
Two pages of Moore's script from Hollywood pt 3, unlettered page 1, lettered page 2
Two program book sketches by Davis from some con program (UKCAC 1990?)

All in all, a fantastic upgrade.  Very glad they did such a nice job!!

This sounds too good to miss out on . Is there any chance it'll be available over here?

Coincidentally, I just recently was given a bag of leftover clay, with which I have just rendered this Ernest Errol Quinch (apologies for the webcam photo - I'm currently without a decent camera).

Any ideas gratefully received about how to do the appendages - clearly they wouldn't last too long in clay, they would have to be some kind of plastic slotted into the clay I think, which I can paint over with the clay later.

Are you sure?  Looks more like Prussian blue to me.

Hmm... Never did get around to replacing my DC edition of the Meknificent Seven, and this news leads me to think I might hang on for the colonial edition. I already know it's going to include Red Planet Blues, which no previous version has done, and now the prospect of the colour spreads actually being in colour has my mouth watering...

Also the US version of the Complete Dredd Files seems to only be different on the cover, content seems to be exactly the same.

That's exactly what I was thinking.  It should be out in two weeks...

The DC edition has the 21 episodes.
The Rebellion edition adds the Titan Books prologue and epilogue.
The new edition further adds Red Planet Blues.

Quite a nice upgrade!!

Eh? How do you mean mate?
Would I have ever given it a bad review? Well as Alan Davis is my fave artist and this is what introduced me to his work, not really.

I think it's a veiled sexual proposition, I sense a wink at the end of vzzbux's question or even a wank if you will.

Spot on. Dr and Quinch couldn't ever receive a bad review unless a raving lunatic happened to come across it (OOOO ERR).
