Mega Cities are real... according to CNN

Over at Bleeding Cool Rich Johnson linked to a report about real world Mega Cities and made the obvious connection.

So the good news is at least we avoided the devastating nuclear war getting to that point!

That's quite interesting. I never realised Tokyo was that heavily populated! I'd have thought the Indian and Chinese cities would have beat it, but then again, with China I think the population would be more spread out.

I would have thought London would be up there too, but on checking the later statistics we're about 7,556,900. So about 2 and a half million less than 'megacity (10 million) status' and a good deal less than all the cities listed.

On that link Rich says:

this could provide a useful resource for, well, budding 2000AD writers at least.

Makes me wonder if we have all the possible Mega Cities boxed off? Are there areas we just don't hear from? Or are they all gone? I'm just looking at the map and I know Istanbul quite well... I wonder if there is room for another Mega City? Even if just in some... 2000AD fanzine (if there is such a thing).
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
