Withnail and I characters in comics
« on: 15 March, 2010, 01:05:02 PM »
So far I've found two blatant rip-offs reverent homages to Withnail and I characters.

First, there's Willoughby Kipling in Doom Patrol, who looks exactly like Withnail and quotes him word for word.  I've seen him described as a Constantine clone, but clearly by people who haven't seen Withnail and I.

Secondly there's Papa Yeltsin in Nikolai Dante, who is quite clearly Uncle Monty.  Identical in appearance, a drinker and a 'toilet-trader'. Monty says 'are you a sponge or a rock', while Papa is a little less subtle - 'It isn't bullets I want to pump into your body'.  Nice.

I like how Ralph Brown was hired to play pretty much exactly the same character in Wayne's World 2 that he does in W&I.
