... i can see where banners is coming from. Tour of duty promised us an Exiled dredd with the townships to run and judge and the political intrugue involving sinfield...i dont like these interludes ,i had the same problem with the origins interlude its a bit like when itv stuck the news in the middle of the big film...

its getting a bit samey even the christmas meg and prog were nothing new...i know the wag has arsom things in play i'm just very impatient.

i think dredd is one of the few strips where any style can work from the cartoony disreali, dyer haward strips to the grim and gritty walker though saying that i was taken aback with mcmahons wierdly cartoon network style on doomsday any one enlighten me why his style changed soooo drastically...i even would like to see hinkleton back on art duties but NOT blood of satanus part 4 he hastens to add... :o

The cover, although not bad, is probably the worst this year.

I liked the cover.  Interestingly, my missus saw the Prog in a shop yesterday and picked it up for me, which is the first time in many years she's done that - maybe it's special lady-attracting pink?

As to the rest of the Prog, hmmm.
Dredd was okay, the story was quite fun but I didn't get why he used ricochet instead of shooting the improbable 'cess tank' directly.  Also, after many dozens of murders the worst Cursed Earth justice can come up with is denying someone a shower.
Dante was very exciting (the more so as my re-read has now reached The Courtship of Jena Makarov, where Daddy Hawksmoor is the main bad guy).
Stickleback was awesome in story, dialogue and art departments.
ABC Warriors... the 'art' on Juanita and the Pres made me want to close the Prog and run away.  But at least the Implosion Hammer's presence on Mars was 'explained'.
The Future Shock.  I normally love Nick Dyer's art, but this didn't do it for me.

In short, looking forward to Mayor Ambrose, and some sign that ABC Warriors will end soon.

We wouldnt be that lucky, and if we're still reading it when the  ABC Warriors hit Book 119 then at least we wont have to put up with any more revision of history and rehashing of previous stories of Pats.
The Godfather Pat may be but i do wish that any more ABC Warriors is an offer that Tharg can refuse.

Funny, I was just reflecting that both the Origins interludes were great little stories.

I'm really enjoying the interlude stories and I'm glad that things are being stretched out a bit - it makes the whole thing seem more epic. It's good to see that Dredd still has a day job to do whilst he's worrying about the bigger problem of what's happening in the city.
I'm actually enjoying Tour of Duty much more than Origins.

I'd also like to say that I love the ABCs - the mentalness (and metalness) of the whole thing makes it one of the most fun series 2000AD has to offer in my opinion. Long live the ABC Warriors (lets have more of Ro-Jaws though).

Not at all, I found myself transfixed by it for quite some time.

My prog only just arrived today!* Well actually it was yesterday now I write this, but as I'm yet to go to bed, it feels like yesterday.

Cover- I like it a lot!

Tharg's Blurb- Interesting stuff. I missed the Shakara bit (not over fussed by that strip to be honest, although I am intrigued considering how the last one ended) but the Strontium dog nugget was interesting.

Droid's Life- Not bad. I think I would have found it funnier if I hadn't read that other naughtier (and funnier) version.

Dredd-  Slapstick silliness. I liked it... although a tad cheesy. It felt a bit like a story from the first case files.

Stickleback- It's strange, as there was nothing wrong with this chapter of the story but I just wasn't keen on it. I knew that gay Jim and fire bloke* would betray Stickleback, but I hoped it would happen in a different way, and not quite as hard core (for want of better words). And it's a shame about the spotty lady. I was hoping to find out a bit more about the character. Basically this isn't a composition problem just a personal expectation issue. As for the art itself, I'm not keen on the excessive greyness either although the composition in itself is lovely. It's a bit of a strain to make out and everything looks wispy and ethereal, even stuff that's supposed to be hard. (Check out that folding robot from a few progs back for example of what I mean.) But maybe that's the point....

ABC Warriors - Interesting freaky art. (Alien possession, melting face?) I agree it wasn't very good though although I do like the strip overall. I'll admit I found the president's corny love bomb singing amusing though in it's wince-worthiness though. I'm easily amused.

Future Shock- Ok little tale if a bit too chatty for my tasted. Boobies! Good twist.

Dante- Okay. I felt sorry for that second soldier who Jena stabbed although, having just turned up she wasn't to know. Probably my favourite of the prog with possible exception of Dredd. And is Konstantin channelling superman on that last page.

*Yes I know that's not their real names. Or not the latter anyway.

*I think it's due to the fact that I cancelled my weekly subscription, but after the payment went through. I think there might have been some confusion as to how many more progs I was owed for this month. I'm not buying it by the way, I'll just get it as and when by other means. I'm not planning on missing the Life and Death of Johnny Alpha...

Prog 1673 a stepping Stone to greater things......pretty cool cover, hadn't noticed the bar room bawl in the background.Reminds me of back of first Pink F ::)loyd l.p art by Syd Barrett.Judge Dredd story going off track a bit looking forward to the talented Mayor Ambrose Story.
Stickleback interesting story,art-work for A.B.C warriors fab but where is this story going? Nikolai fab, always like this and the future shock I still have to read.
I know it's early days for 2000ad in 2010 but the programmes can only get better.
Looking for now to prog 2000.
Keep up the great work all at 2000ad
Yours Ambrose ::)

You know...they could end up working together on this...Don't think PJ would be happy wih a loss of the power he now has which could be undermined with a 'stronger' Chief Judge and a 'stronger' stance on the Law and less on civil liberty.  You never know.

It's creeping me out a little how real Dredd's hairy chest looks.

I couldn't take my eyes off it. I think I'm on the turn!
