Cover: Would go in to my worst cover ever catagory.

Really? Wow.
Granted it's quite garish and I can see how it may not be to some people's taste but its surely striking and well executed. I think it could well pique the curiosity of lapsed readers who want to know who the girl is that's getting so familiar with Dredd. It makes a change from the Dredd in stock pose or beating up a perp covers.

Other than that, another solid prog. I don't think there's been a duff prog for well over a year now. I'm a very satisfied customer thanks Tharg.

That cover could have been so much better - the actual artwork is fantastic, but I loathe that pink background Ugh!

A pretty decent Prog all round.

I really liked the cover. The plasticity of the characters works so much better with this sort of lurid backdrop.

After a good opening episode, I was glad to see the team of Haward and Morrison deliver a great fun climax to their Dredd story. Robbie's still got it when he lays off the crying. I laughed out loud in the privacy of my own couch at Rrr..Ricochet.

All that other stuff was pretty good too except ABCs, but we don't talk about that.

Anyone know for sure what's finishing next week? I'm off on holiday at lunchtime so the postie better be bloody quick off his mark.

Had to wait until Monday for me prog!

Cover I like this; initially I thought I'd eaten a funny mushroom, but on reflection it's eyecatching and different with being greatly executed.

Droid Life Alright.

Dredd An alright yarn. I couldn't stop myself questioning why there was a sewage tank elevated above ground. They may be muties, but shurely shome mishtake? But good work on'...Bootknife! and 'rrr..Ricochet!'.

Stickleback Strangely, I thought this was just good as opposed to my usual thought of ghafflebette.

Futute shock Liking Nick Dyer's work there as usual. Decent enough story.

ABCs Again with the ok, even though I've been enjoying this run.

Dante I read it.

So, my prog experience was definately below par this week. Top strip laurels has to go to Stickleback for momentum but nothing else really caught my attention. Good news on Shakara - I think I'll get the trades of this for a change.

What Mikey just said..
why stick a cess pit UP in a tower? it could easily have been a her on a walkway over a cesspit surely?

but all's forgiven cause we got... Bootknife!

Stickleback is ARSOM but I wish I had Logan control to hold off and read it in a one-r
No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.

that cover was surely asking for a cover line based on the classic "i'm itching but i just aint scratching" line from the mutie fleas tale waaay back.

is it just my tired old eyes but i find the art on stickleback too grey...in meaning black and white would stand out more i find it difficult to make out whats going on has his style changed slightly from the first sticky tale? curious...

don't get into an argument with an idiot. he'll drag you down to his level then win with experience.http://mogzilla-armer.blogspot.com/

You're all being too polite. This and last week's Dredd have been awful. A very poor Prog this week imho.

Could be so the 'muck' can stored and sold for fertilizer, etc.

''THANKS BANNERS''
kind of you to be honest ,don't beat around the bush
guess you can't please everyone ,i think lust in the dust is ok ,sadly my mind wasn't totally focused on the job due to illnress in the family and i guess chris didn't get much time to do the colouring on it, still i had a chuckle drawing it

the cover isn't bad apart from her hair being the wrong colour
the cover sticks out on the shelf in my local wh smiths
which serves it's purpose.

any way this old art droid will try better next time if the mighty green one allows me out of the iso-cube again to scribble

cheers

Quote from: jon haward
''THANKS BANNERS''

Jon, I meant no disrespect to you personally and I should have been more eloquent. My apologies for coming across like a prat, and for not understanding the situation you have explained elsewhere.

For the story, I'm tiring of the 'Wild West' theme both in the Prog and Meg, and haven't really enjoyed a Dredd story since Prog 1667 which wrapped his exile within the wider context of MC1 and the Mutant Issue. The plot of a 'heartbreaker' mutation was daft. The conclusion was slapstick. I expect better from Morrison, whose work I largely adore.

And I regret to confess that the art on "Lust in the Dust" is simply not to my taste (similarly, I do not think Nick Dyer's style is suited to JD). That's not to say I don't appreciate the effort and craftsmanship there. Indeed, there is surely no ambiguity in what is being depicted - the art is big, bold and brash.

I do not offer this opinion to be vituperative or make a personal slight - simply as a consumer slightly disappointed with a the product (for whatever reason). Others have their opinions, and I'm happy to continue trusting Tharg's opinion - just as I have done since 1986.

Cheers,

M@

That cover could have been so much better - the actual artwork is fantastic, but I loathe that pink background Ugh!

It was invented by Satan himself. I first noticed that particular shade on the front of True Believers #1 and it can look very striking in print (I think it works better here than on that) but there is something about it that makes it impossible to scan, the colour seems to bleed across into anything that isn't properly ring-fenced in black. I'm waiting to see if the image they upload to the front page works properly (as they usually do it large and in high enough quality to avoid too many problems).

I'm also looking forward to Neil Roberts' breakdown of how he did the cover (Wells!!!!) although I do wonder if that amount of chest hair is practical with a form-fitting outfit that zips up the front. It might be the solution to how Dredd will shuffle off this mortal coil - some have suggested it'd make sense if he went out to some petty punk but how'd he get the drop on Dredd? Soooooo perhaps he pulls over to use the Lawjohn (like the Car John but part of the Lawmaster) but he gets jumped and catches his crab ladder in his zip, so he draws just a moment too slow and aims just a fraction too high as his eyes are watering. Consider that copyrighted Tharg.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
