I prefer it to the PS3 personally, due to the controls and games available. However I absolutely hate the failure rate. I just got my ninth 'Red Ring Of Death'; not happy.

I agree with a few here - get both!

XBox is great value in terms of price in comparison to the PS3

True to a point I think..but the fact the PS3 has wi-fi built in (pricey extra on the 360) and I can have an account for every family member to play online at no extra cost reduces the difference in price. Paying extra to play a game I have just bought on my payed for broadband line grates with me. But then I am a tight bastard.

Having said all that I do really like them both!

I got a PS3 just recently and so far It's been worth it just for the PS3 exclusive Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. I mean if you like driving games AT ALL and aren't too hung up on realism when it comes to the cars and handling etc., this game is probably the most intense fun it's pysically possible to have concentrated into 2-4 minute bursts (about how long it takes to complete the standard 2 laps of the various tracks)
... with certain obvious exceptions which I won't bother elaborating on, of course.

Not a fan of racers at all, but I found Pure to be great fun, even if I did need binoculars to see any of my online opponents.

Well I'll admit I do quite like driving games in general... though I could name a few that are a tad boring. Maybe it's just me but if driving at extreme speeds is fun, then ripping at extreme speeds through jungle foliage, accross beaches, over the edge of cliffs, through volcanic tunnels, etc. etc. is ten times as much fun, especially with the spectacular scenery in really nicely rendered graphics, and the genuine sense of speed and danger that MS:PR manages to inject.

I think its a bit sucky that the ps3 is getting heavy rain exclusively. Is this comeback for mass effect?

Driving games improve your driving especially high speed which is a fact recognised by driving schools.

I havent got it out of the box yet so i havent ever tried online gaming ever.I also dont know the 20gb models has an online gaming feature as its all new to me and i havent got a clue.I bought 5 360 games including Aliens vs Predator for 25 quid which is why i finally bought a 360.Theres loads more of cheap games to buy now as well which is the good thing about waiting.

Peter, Just hook it up to internet and follow the onscreen prompts to create a profile.

When it asks if you want to pay for an Xbox Live subscription say no and it'll give you a months free access.
 :)
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Gah! Fired up the 360 this morning for the first time in ages because I had a craving to play some old school Doom. Started to notice strange blue artifacts and mild flickering during the game. A quick check online confirms my suspicions - probable GPU failure and imminent console death! I've already experienced RROD once before (as has pretty much every person I know that owns a 360!) - shame that the 360 is such a poorly made system!

I'm now weighing up whether or not to buy a 360 slim - wouldn't mind the upgrade, but they're not cheap!  :'(

This happened to me a few months ago, Radiator. I bit the bullet and upgraded. The new system has been great so far. It's a hell of a lot quieter than my previous one and the built in Wi-Fi, which I wasn't really bothered about, is tops. I can easily move it to the big telly when the missus goes to sleep.  ;)

It's quite annoying because I rarely actually have time to play the damn thing (until yesterday I probably hadn't even switched it on in 2 months!), so in some ways I shouldn't bother replacing it (and probably wouldn't miss it too much if I didn't) but it's nice to know that it's there - you never know when you'll get a sudden urge for a Halo marathon...

There's also the library of games, like Trials, Rez, Perfect Dark, Shadow Complex, Doom 2, Limbo etc etc that I have downloaded which I'd presumably lose if I didn't buy a new 360. Also, Gears of War 3 is out this year, which is an essential purchase for me.

Hmmm. I'm doing a bit of work on the side for some bloke at the moment - if that all pans out OK then I'll use some of the cash from that to get a new 360, I think.
