World Horror Convention
« on: 18 February, 2010, 07:34:28 PM »
Is anyone here going to this year's WHC in March?

http://www.whc2010.org/

The main focus seems to be on writing as opposed to movies - which suits me fine.

I'm really looking forward to it. It'd be cool to meet up for a pint with fellow boarders, of course :)

How dare you HOO-HAA, those dates are reserved for the Hi-Ex! Event. I can't believe that you had the audacity to post this ;)

Still people can go on the first two days if they want, the other two get up to Inverness!

Its incredible that out of the 52 weekends in the year this event has to clash with another that i am going to ?

I hate it when this happens.

 >:( >:(

I am tired from rehearsing for an exam so i didnt even notice that the dates only overlap.Thats alright after all !

Er... yes! Of course, that's what I meant to add, Commando.  :-X

It's off to the Highlands after a couple of days' warm-up (literally!) at WHC.

Also I notice they have a joint poster for Odyssey 2010, which could do with some board-stalking:

www.odyssey2010.org

Carlos Ezquerra and Mike Carey, plus Iain Banks and Alastair Reynolds!!
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

The events website says that "Memberships to the convention are sold out".

Is that some poncy way of saying that tickets are sold out ?

If it is then Bollox to it all.Not interested.

Pretty much. You have to 'join' the WHC. When you join, you're eligible to attend the whole event.

Seems like there's no one-day pass options, alas...  :(

I will indeed, Commando.

The highlight for me, though, is the attendance of this gentleman:

... and a showing of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN in his glorious presence.

Ah. You're right, Peter.

Sold-out, indeed.  :(

I think, though, from my reading of a recent e-mail from the organisers, that they're taking names for a reserve list.

So, in approx 2 hours and 46 minutes my alarm will be sounding to signal the start of my journey towards Brighton for the WHC.

To everyone going to HiEX, I hope you guys have a GREAT weekend! Hopefully, we'll trade pics and stories from both events right here after the weekend.

Cheers!  :D
