yeah I picked up the first trade as they were doing it cheap last year, it's a good read basically HBO doing the vikings the 2nd arc was not as good but some of the one off's are really good one was drawn by Dean Ormston and the current arc has some brilliant art by a guy who was apparently drawing punisher at one point, its a siege story set on the plague ridden Volga, it's a dark, fun and intelligently written book.

What JamesCor said. Picked up the first trade as it was only six quid or something and liked it a lot. Just got the second and it was all right but not as good and will probably get the next one. Interesting in that I think most of the stories are self-contained although I'm sure there will be the odd familiar face popping up if it goes on long enough. The "viking" backdrop gives it a pretty vast historical and geographical canvas.

I picked up the first arc of Northlanders and while I enjoyed it it didn't survive the great cull that shortly followed afterwards with my wifes pregancy. I do however look longingly at it when I see it as it was an entertaining read and it being a series of short stories or arcs made it an interesting prospect. It also had the disadvantage of not having a continual draw to pull me back in. I will almost certainly look at another trade or two as it was fun.

Great Blog and discussion board here:

http://www.brianwood.com/about.html

Good to see Important american issues being discussed with an element of sanity.

but I'm curious why mr Wood uses the Scottish Lion rampant, (with and added heart)on his site?

Anyone reading Mr Wood's DEMO? I'm afraid I'm disappointed with them, they are very like our Futureshocks but s-t-re-t-c-h-e-d over 22 pages, and I don't think Cyber Matt would have commisioned those first two either...

On the other hand just read the Northlanders TPB and it is excellent, only minor gripe would be the language which is full of dreadful americanisms... 'MOM!' 'bullshit', 'got to think tactically' or some such that really jars when reading, still I'm liking it enough to go for the second TPB and both Minihuffs are liking it too

I'm a bit confused as to why both Amazon and Play are insisting the new Northlanders trade isn't out until the end of January when it's been in the shops for about three weeks.

If I wasn't such a miserable Scotch git, I'd just pay full price for it.

I've had that a few times when waiting for stuff. Its cos Amazon.co.uk sells the Titan version that comes out a few months after the Diamond Distributuon version. Also means you get that annoying impossible to remove price label all over the back. Grrrr

I too find find those Titan book stickers annoying - good thing my bookshop can order from an American supplier.
