Ansible? Do you have a link?

Assuming that's not a very funny LeGuin-based joke, have a look at http://news.ansible.co.uk/ - The Ansible, where it's always the late-80's!

Glad you enjoyed it, filip! Good to see the characters had an impact on you. Thanks for your encouraging words: if you got a chance to post a short review on the book's Amazon page, it would be very much appreciated :)

I'm working on the prequel/ sequel to flu as we speak. It's to be entitled 'Fever' and will return to pre-apocalyptic Belfast to introduce some new characters before picking up where the first book left off.

That Lark fella? Whatever could you mean?!

;)

Actually, I based his character on a booze-fuelled alter-ego of myself, asking the question, What would I do next if drinking heavily? And such fun I had writing him: he made an interesting counter to a (mostly) measured George.

Thanks, man! I really hope you dig it! :)

Just a quick note - the 'temporarily out of stock' message on FLU's Amazon page is nothing to be alarmed about. Snowbooks promise that Amazon will be fully restocked within a matter of days - they're just waiting on the second edition to bounce off the press! :)

Page 78 of this month's SCI-FI NOW Magazine has a pretty enjoyable (well, for me at least) interview with yours truly. Find it throughout supermarkets and newsagents across the UK and Ireland:

http://www.scifinow.co.uk/

Another interview with my rather sickly self (I have FLU, believe it or not) has appeared in cyberspace - this one courtesy of Gerard Brennan over at CSNI.

Read about my WORST writing experience! GASP!

Apologies to those who have been waiting for FLU to come back into stock online. I'm delighted to inform you that Amazon UK is now replenishing - those who have ordered while the book was between print-runs can expect to receive their copy of a freshly printed second edition shortly. For those yet to order, well... best grab it now lest it sell out again!

Brand new competition - here comes the voiceover...

We have signed copies of two great zombie novels to give away to THREE lucky readers.

Wayne Simmons’s Flu, described by one reviewer as “a bloody fun read and an absolute page turner”, has sold over 2,000 copies since its publication on April 30, and has been received well by readers and reviewers alike. One critic said: “I can honestly say that this is the best novel I’ve read since Scott Sigler’s Infected and Contagious. A must read for every zombie fan.”

Zombie Britannica has been described as “a swashbuckling tale that will keep you turning the pages”. One reviewer said: “It took me less than two days to read this book and it was so addictive I had to read it again, and images stayed with me for weeks.”

Three of you can win signed copies of Flu and Zombie Britannica by answering this simple, zombie-themed question:

Night of the Living Dead was the movie that made Zombie Godfather, George A Romero, a cult name in 1968. Name the similarly titled movie, released in 2007 and directed by Scott Thomas:

A) Flight of the Living Dead
B) Fright of the Living Dead
C) Twiddly-dee-dum-dee of the Living Dead

Send your answer and postal address using the contact forms at thomasemson.net or waynesimmons.org by September 30, 2010. The first three correct answers drawn from our cauldron will win a signed copy of Flu and Zombie Britannica. Good luck!

Flu and Zombie Britannica are available from all good bookstores and online retailers, including Waterstone’s, Amazon, Play and the Book Depository.

I'm a sucker for a zombie book. So just ordered it.

Perfect timing as far as I'm concerned just finished my current read.
I have a heart condition.  If you hit me it's murder!
