Hey HOO-HAA, just read this thread, really well done, might just have to buy this myself.
They say you need to spend money to make money, well I've never made any money so by that logic I've never spent any.

Thanks, Zarjazzer - it was a fun interview.

The sci-fi book I'm writing (well, it's complete in 1st draft stage) is a cyberpunk thriller, set in a futuristic Belfast. It will be called Plastic Jesus. No idea when it'll be out - Snowbooks will be re-releasing my debut novel, Drop Dead Gorgeous, next year before putting anything else out. I would hope to have it on shelves within the next couple of years, anyway, and will most certainly keep you posted right here.

Here's a few pics from the Liverpool Tattoo Convention 2010, where I held a book signing for FLU.

Script by Sween.

Skull by Mr Dan Henk

Ms HOO-HAA's thigh pieces - both by Helen Brown (one still to be completed)

And here's a few random pics from the con:

Outrageous pictures. I expected no less from an author who dabbles in the zombie/satanist/tattoist genre ?! I read the Daily Mail you know?!! ;)

Don't tattoos hurt says whimpering, physical coward?

Didn't you know that genre writing is the new rock n' roll?!  :P

They don't hurt as much as most people think. I'll guarantee that you'll have experienced much worse at the dentist.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'll tell you this; a tattoo con's a great place for a book signing! I'll bet that comics would shift just as well if someone set up a stall to promote their stuff ;)

The best type!  :)

Just wanted to thank every boarder who has picked up a copy of FLU thus far. The book is doing fantastic, holding its own within the top 5 Amazon UK horror bestellers. In fact, my publisher e-mailed last week to advise the book is going to reprint very soon, the first edition having all but sold out within 3 months of release.

So, thanks a lot, guys. Especially those who have posted reviews of the book on Amazon - that really makes all the difference for a newbie like me.

Here's a rather delightful review of flu from someone who wouldn't normally read horror or scifi:

'The characters are well written, all acting and reacting as you would expect humans to do in this type of situation, some crumbling through fear and some turning to their more basic characteristics, resembling animal more than human, all of which were believable and at times disturbing and heart wrenching too.

Price wise this is available from www.amazon.co.uk for the sum of £4.97.

Would I recommend this, yes it was not my normal type of read, but was never the less enjoyed more for the invocation of feelings, it had a real effect on me emotionally which for a book that I would deem as fantasy/fiction was surprising to me.'

You should send that on to Dave Langford for his Ansible 'zine.  He loves those 'I can hardly believe it' s not a real book' reviews!

Ansible? Do you have a link?

When I first started writing I used to tell folks who asked what style I wrote, 'Heartbreak Horror'. It's an awfully contrived statement meaning 'character driven' but remains fairly accurate re: what I'm *trying* to achieve. I want to see some tears in readers' eyes.
