Perp eating worms

A friend of mine was severely traumatised as a girl when she came into contact with a dredd story which,she half remembers, ended with dredd allowing a perp to be eaten by giant worms. I'm not completely sure she didn't imagine this- does anyone know which story this might be from?

I think it was the blood worms story in the resyk. I may be wrong.

Yeah, it's almost certainly the excellent 'Worms', from Prog 598 (reprinted in Casefiles 12 - on the cover as it happens), with gory art by Chris Weston.  A Dennis The Menace lookalike feeds classmates and teacher to hideously grinning giant recycling worms while on a school trip, then tries to convince Dredd that he was an innocent bystander.  Great stuff.

Doesn't Barry Dreary suffer the same fate in "The Game Show Show"?

Haven't read it for ages but wasn't the prize for completing the board a ton of flesh eating worms.

Ouch, I'd forgotten that one!  Yeah, fits the bill even better - although they were just the regular size, Dredd actually watches Barry getting eaten by his own carnivorous worms.  Prog 279, reprinted Casefiles 6.

Yes, that story has also stayed with me for decades. I think the artist was Casanovas, and while he has never been a favourite, his worms were superlative.

You know if you ever wanted to convince someone that 2000ad is the in fact really the Galaxies greatest comic all you'd have to do is show them this thread. I mean is there even possibly another comic were the question which story had a perp eatten by worms would aactually led to a discussion of the options!
