SFX asked Murky Depths if they wanted a table - but at £800 (inc. room) there's no way we could afford that. I'm sure it's going to be well-supported, and as suggested, sold out (but maybe that's just the usual hype), but it strikes me that they're pitching at the elite and stupid. I was told that the package included a room for £500 (yet rooms start at £300) which meant a table was £300! Now even at a four-day event (Eastercon) I've never spent more than about £135 a day (for the two of us), and that includes b&b, booze, food and table costs - and at a plush hotel, not a crappy self-catering chalet. Yes, I'd liked to have had Murky Depths in the dealer room but I'm neither one of the elite nor stupid (at least not totally!). I hope 2000AD were offered a better deal than we were.
