SFX Weekender 5th-6th Feb 2010 Camber Sands Sussex
« on: 28 November, 2009, 08:04:47 PM »
I just found out the latest additions for this http://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=the_sfx_weekender_welcomes_2000 and they may be of interest around these parts. Last I heard it was almost sold out though.

So that's what Clint Langley looks like! Bit of a Judge Dredd/Dirty Harry look. Well perhaps if no one on the forums is going their might be something about it on Farcebook so we'll see who was who and where and how. 8)

SFX asked Murky Depths if they wanted a table - but at £800 (inc. room) there's no way we could afford that. I'm sure it's going to be well-supported, and as suggested, sold out (but maybe that's just the usual hype), but it strikes me that they're pitching at the elite and stupid. I was told that the package included a room for £500 (yet rooms start at £300) which meant a table was £300! Now even at a four-day event (Eastercon) I've never spent more than about £135 a day (for the two of us), and that includes b&b, booze, food and table costs - and at a plush hotel, not a crappy self-catering chalet. Yes, I'd liked to have had Murky Depths in the dealer room but I'm neither one of the elite nor stupid (at least not totally!). I hope 2000AD were offered a better deal than we were.

FutureQuake wasn't even offered the opportunity to turn them down.

I looked at the adverts they keep showing in the mag and it doesn't seem value for money to me, well for what I want anyway.
Compare this to Hi-Ex and there is no Competition!

I cannae afford the SFX Weekender. I wish I could as it looks like a good do, but also it's running over the Friday/Saturday so would have to travel on the Thursday (maybe), so that's 2 days off work. Just can't justify it.

I've bagged some free tickets to this event, so I'm looking forward to meeting the 2000ad bods and maybe getting some sketches from the Langley droid, ect!

Geez, for the price of one ticket you could get your favourite droid a train ticket to your own house and get them to draw and sign stuff for you.

That's a great idea. Now where's that Bolland number again?

Some sketches by Clint Langley and Leigh Gallagher from the recent SFX Weekender. Thanks to two very gracious art droids.
Great Interactive Comic strip by Leigh and Al Ewing!

Come on Dweezil2, we need an in depth report on this event. I saw a bit on Meridian News on Friday that showed James Marsters signing and the Tardis with a bloke who thought he was David Tennant. Can't remember the rest.
So come on, full report plus pictures if you would be so kind!

Just look at what some lucky bugger won at this event.

Behind the picture is Leigh Gallagher and at the right is the artist who drew it, I'm sure you'll know who it is!
