Does it not give the feeling of being in a real life team having the toss pots being toss pots? When in Vietnam? And all that.. Its there to build characters. Or kill them.

My gamertag is MagicBeanz if anyone wants to add me, and I suggest we start a board XBox Live night.

Mine is skybluejon if anyone's interested. You know on FIFA you can set up a team. Now a 2000ad team would be great!

I play Backgammon online and this happens quite a lot. What really annoys me is they should do the gentlemanly thing and hit the resign button and forfeit the game instead of just quitting mid game.
I play online Scrabble quite a bit (not facebook; I'm hardcore, me) and they have a pretty good system. If one player disconnects once the game is underway, but doesn't resign, the player still online has to agree to either adjourn or write off the game. If you don't do this within a set time, the match is closed and points assigned on the basis of the scores as they stand.

You can generally tell if someone's genuilnely got problems with their connection or life by the absence of comments like "FUCK YOU YOU CHEATORZ"

Here's a nice bit of Half Man Half Biscuit: Bad Losers on Yahoo Chess

That sounds like an excellent system.

I have it cracked. Take a two goal lead and then take it easy. People apparently don't enjoy getting twatted. I'm on a really long unbeaten run now.

Other night I received a message through Xbox calling me a Faggot from some random git in Bristol who I had just killed several times on MW2. It actually made me feel quite good to imagine him at the other end getting more wound up by each death.

Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

I had some abuse from a guy once. He was hammering me at FIFA 09 and started ball juggling and showboating. Consequently I just started doing it as well despite being about six down. Apparently he didn't like that and sent me a message calling me an idiot!

It made me smile.

I just paid out for a gold account. Not sure why as the general bad loosing means I doubt I'll play much online (not that I'd be able to beat anyone anyway Smiley )

Weird! I had a kind of vendetta thing going on with a guy on GTA last night, but to me it was hilarious. I'd be rather disturbed to think he'd be sitting at home fuming about it...
The highlight was when I was, cool as you like, shooting at some guy at the far end of the street, just about to nail him- when I was mown down from behind by a speeding car. Great fun!

I have the same kind of highlights in games, don't get why people get wound up about losing as I genuinely enjoy playing and usually find it pretty hilarious when I get snuffed.

Had my first few L4D2 sessions recently and got kicked from the first couple. I wouldn't mind if I'd done anything wrong or dragged the team down, but both times I hadn't even had the opportunity to foul up. The first time there was no voice chat or communication at all apart from a sneery "Bye bye beasto" just as I got kicked, and the second time I was kicked as soon as I spoke so I'm guessing the accent put them off. If folks are gonna boot out anyone they don't know they should really learn to use the private slots and friends only options on live.

Last night was the first time I encountered anything 'bad' and it wasn't bad in a minor way- playing the team flag game, I was on a team that was repeatedly destroyed by what was obviously a group of friends playing together. Which is fair enough! but kind of bleeds the fun from it when you literally have to respawn every 10 seconds!

In other news... I was playing a big team deathmatch, and settled down on a Karachi rooftop to shoot people in the head as they walked passed, and looked to the guy beside me- and noticed the name above his head- which I recognised. And sure enough, it was my local Comic Book Guy! What's the chances??

Did he say 'Best Sniper Point Evah!'

That would have rocked.

it's been 50/50 for me. a few times playing Halo3 i've met some total douchebags but luckily i was drunk and was well able to make the yanks on the receiving end run for the safe haven of their mothers bossom and ask their mother's about all the bad words the drunk irishman called them and were they true! Cheesy
however last game i played on live was Left4Dead 2 and met some great team players. so it's kinda hard to figure out. not too be too down on the americans but it does mostly seem to be them who throw the sissy fits and turn off half way through . . .

When you play FPSs online its usually the yanks that take it FAR too seriously. You can tell half of them really want to be in the marines or something!
