Yellow Hat Guy
« on: 13 October, 2009, 05:38:19 PM »
Apologies if this has already been posted and discussed but I've only just come across it myself.
Read the first link then listen to the podcast interview in the second link

http://superfunadventuretime.com/2009/08/0...engers-avenged/
http://media.libsyn.com/media/robots...eatshop_29.mp3

What do people think us this? a harmless bit of revenge or a step to far?
I personally found the podcast interview very funny.

I thought this was going to be a thread about my avatar.  :)

Incidentally, that first link isn't working for me, so I don't really know what this thread is about.

As I recall this coursed all sort of Internet outrage and creators and all sorts kicking off about how out of order it was, which to be fair it was. Some details here

What do people think us this? a harmless bit of revenge or a step to far?

This -- presumably -- is the guy who went up to Rob Liefeld* and announced that he was a Captain America fan and wanted an apology for 'Something Or Other Reborn' ...?

I'm assuming that he didn't enjoy it very much. Begging the question:

WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BUY IT, THEN?[/i]

It's not like the story was a bit duff -- something you can only find out when you actually read the comic -- but you didn't like the artwork. And it was by Rob Fucking Liefeld who can't fucking draw. So why the fuck did you buy it?

Gaah!

There's a bit more after that, Jim - said guy later finds a copy of 'How To Draw Comics - The Marvel Way', writes a dedication in it, and then drops it on Liefield's table on the way past. A little cruel, of course, but not something a grown-up shouldn't be able to laugh off and get on with their lives.

I've now listened to some of the podcast, but it mostly seemed to be the guy ripping extraordinary amounts of piss out of the straight-laced interviewer, who doesn't seem to realise he's being funned with.

Meh. The guys a dick.

Liefeld can't draw: fact. If you don't like that, don't buy his stuff. If you really don't like that, write your own very funny webpage pointing out the fact that he can't draw.

Being a dick to someone in person at a Con -- regardless of what you, I, or anyone else may think of their talents -- is just being a dick. and a slightly creepy one at that.

Cheers!

I had no idea - until this thread - who Rob Liefeld is. That link has given me a really good belly laugh. Think the news reporter one was my favourite - cheers!

Ha that's blocked on our College network as "Tasteless and offensive" I wonder if thats a comment on the humour or Liefeld's art?

Its surprising to think that only what 20 years ago he was sooooo popular.

Possibly both. It's worth checking out if you get the chance, not so much for the sarky (but funny) commentary, but because the pictures speak for themselves. Rob Liefeld -- one of the richest comic artists in the US -- cannot draw. He has no clue how a human body fits together.

It's quite scary!

Cheers
