Have I screwed my ipod?
« on: 01 August, 2009, 05:15:27 PM »
I've just managed to break off a 3.5mm headphone jack in the headphone socket of my ipod, it seems wedged in pretty good and is resisting removal attempts using tweezers and tiny screwdrivers! Any suggestions?!?! :-[

They have a fail safe spring in those things. If you get a toothpick and push it further in it should pop out.

Just had a crack at that but nothing seems to be happenning, pushing quite hard on it as well. Thanks for the suggestion though!

That worked with my brothers. Have you tried bluetacking it out?

Put a tiny dot of super glue on the end of a match or something thin and then bond it to the end of the jack. make sure you don't get any glue on the edges though.

Neither of those worked sadly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh balls. tried to open the case having looked at some Youtube videos and have now fooked the screen. I'm putting it down now before I do any more damage. Thanks for your suggestions anyway guys.

Have you tried coaxing it out with some cheese?

Will that work? I didn't realise headphone jacks were attracted to cheese. Thanks for all your genuine help there DavidXBrunt, you're evidently a real community-minded kinda guy.

If cheese isn't working, you could always try chocolate.

@ DavidXBrunt

What a lovely way to welcome a new member to the forum. Are there so many squaxx around these days that you feel you can afford to alienate a few? I started this thread looking for help and trusted your first reply, thinking maybe you knew more about the subject than I did. I posted this same thread on AVforums and had genuine advice, yet here you thought it'd be a bit of a laugh to see if you could damage my £170 ipod further. Yes, i was gullible and ignorant, but I wouldn't have thought there'd be a wanker like you out there with such a childish, destructive personality. I would've expected better from this forum based on the other threads I've read. I'm sure the 'W' word will get me banned, but only from a forum I no longer want to be a part of. So fuck you, pal. :D

Is this Lord Running Clam's brother or a different "Doktor"?

Stop taking a couple of silly comments so personally and while you are at it why dont you introduce yourself properly before pursuing your very direct line of enquiry ?

If you want to be welcomed then introduce yourself as you are not helping yourself at all right now as you come across as someone with an attitude problem.

No one is trying to damage your Ipod any more than you have already done yourself so its ridiculous to suggest that anyone was.You are entirely responsible for your own actions .

I don't think it's Docktor J who's got the attitude problem Pete. And I don't mean it's you either, just so as that's straight.
