Casefile 13
« on: 29 July, 2009, 08:13:11 PM »
Just picked up Casefile #13 in Forbidden Planet.

Some good stuff, much of which I've not read.  And a heck of a lot of nods to what's coming soon.

Only complaint, my copy has a flipped page in Dead Juves Curve.

IIRC, there was a page out of order when Dead Juve's Curve was originally printed.  Curious whether it's the same error.

The last couple case files have been mostly stuff I've never read before which has been great. I'm really looking forward to getting vol 13.

Still think the cover choice is an odd one.

Aaaargh!  I thought the era of endless Austin generic Dredd covers was behind us!

Not that he's a bad artist at all, just jeez luweez was he over-used.

Quite liked his painted Anderson ones he ripped off porn stars. There was an article in Mayfair at the time (I didnt buy it, found it) showing the photos he copied.
Never liked his generic dredd ones. The proportions always looked well off.

Well, there's something I never knew!

Upon reflection, though... prog 760 was one, wasn't it?

Yes it was. 713 is the really obvious one though.

But of course.  The Bramble Fairies strike again.

Mick Austin as our version of Greg Land, who'd have thought it.  Still, at least he was able to find models whose facial expressions didn't suggest some anal-related agony.

Perfect reason to use him for the Case Files then, his covers do provide a back drop to that era. I personnally think its great us of his stuff, which I normally love - there was that one stretchly legged Dredd which was horrible (can't spot it on Barney might have been a poster on the back?)

Damn I always though that was based on a shot of Sigourney Weaver in Alien... unless she modelled for... ahem better stop thinking about that...

anal-related agony

I can honestly say I was not expecting that phrase to crop up in this thread.
