IAMTHESYSTEM. Not too dark at all. Lovely stuff.

FlintLockJaw, a bit of Brett Ewins in that lip curl?

Great idea and some lovely sketches here.

Wow, the results coming in are fantastic. The discipline shown by the artists displaying, is awsome. I can't believe the very finished looking, vivid portraits of MC1's top lawman. Fifteen minutes is very short on a stolen pentab and computer tho. (I jest)

Dillon? Really? F*ckin' A. I love Steve Dillon's work.

I really think the sites got so much more colourful with members like Kerrin and Brendan joining in. Keep it up chaps!

Holy cremola, some stunning stuff coming in. That last batch amongst many here are awesome: Rad, Leigh Shepherd and as for IAMTHESYSTEM – that grimace/snarl is spot on.

Bill Ward: Artdroid who drew one episode of Dredd 'The Mega-City 5000', set on the moon if I remember correctly.
ISTR that he did quite a lot of work on the early 2000AD annuals, as well.
I wouldn't swear to it, but isn't this Bill Ward:
Cheers
Jim
Nothing much comes up when I search online, other than the one Dredd story mentioned above which I haven't looked at for years. There is a website dedicated to him.

Fantastic idea, this thread. I haven't enjoyed drawing something this much in aaages.

That one may have been sixteen minutes. I may do another.

Cheers!

Looks just like Clint Eastwood if he ever dons the helmet. Very good Jim but how on earth did Radiator keep such clean lines while on a bloody tube train? The tubes I'm on bounce you around quicker than a juvey in the Halls of Justice.

Cheers Ctaylor - I'd be happy to be even fractionally reminding people of Colin MacNeil!  Jim - thats a Dave McKean Dredd if ever I saw one.

Radiators is really cool - is that done on one of those brown bags you get the coffee in?  If so, you earn double bonus points! And IAMTHESYSTEMS, as others have said, has the best snarl of all - both pretty unique.

Great idea for a thread!
Inks and colour 14mins. Pretty circle crop and outer gradient a couple of mins more.
It's sort of Staples-y, although I began more McCarthy-ish.

I'd like to see a full strip with this very Euro-spaghetti-style Dredd.

Thank you for the compliment. (Although I don't know what Euro-spaghetti means!)

All I see, however, is the thin neck, head too far forward, unfinished far side of the helmet, shoulder pad too low, chain and chest too loosely defined. Also the circle should be moved more to the left, and I don't like the nose or the nasolabial folds. I've had a few more stabs since, and it's still pretty tough to get it all done in 15 mins, even with brushes and colours on "speed-dial", but of the ones I've done I think this one still has the most energy and "potential".

I'd be a LOT happier with a 30 minute time limit, but then that rather stetches the point of the exercise.

You're being too hard on yourself. I would give my left arm (or, at the very least, someone elses left arm..) to be able to draw like that!

yeah, that's a pretty good example of the artists curse right there... you might se that in your own work (all you'll probably ever see are the shortcomings) but that's not what everyone else picks up on - it looks fantastic. lovely feel and form.
