Dave Taylor: More talent than is good for him
« on: 20 July, 2008, 01:58:19 PM »
Dave Taylor's blog has a 2000AD related update, showing off a "quick cover sketch" that is so much better than anything I could manage artistically on my best day that it makes me want to weep:

This seems a good place to drop in a note that he is selling some art, including quite a lot of his Dredd/Anderson work and a Meg cover:

Interesting see the originals for "High Spirits" and the way he leaves the more... ghostly lines uninked and you really get to see the incredible detail he adds (especially in the architecture). So well worth a nose even if funds are tight and as new Batman work might keep him tied up on the other side of the Pond for a while it might be the only way to enjoy his 2000AD work until he hears the siren call again.

Flip me sideways, that is some beautiful stuff.  Were I REMOTELY FLUSH I would spring for tha Anderson cover, it's a treat (as is it all, actually).

Seconded. And just how does he draw those cityscapes?

I was thinking that. My best bet is he plugs wires in his head and then carefully inserts electrodes on the other end into the brains of ants. He then sends his mighty ant army forth to draw in the detail with their tiny ant toes.

Just a guess but if someone buys one go over it with a microscope and see if you can spot any ant fingerprints. Get all CSI on their tiny asses (or the ant equivalent).

I love me some Dave Taylor (by cousin's called Dave Taylor and we're all from The Wirral I keep hoping there's a family secret I don't know of!). Its a great blog shame he doesn't get the chance to up date it regularly.

Agree about the city scapes mybrothergrimm, in fact I have one of his views of Mega City 1 as my desktop at work at the moment.
